Solid bodied electric guitars

The term “Solid bodied” is one that is seldom used when talking about guitars. Most people take for granted that unless otherwise mentioned, the piece in question is a solid bodied guitar. By definition, solid bodied refers to a guitar that doesn’t have an internal chamber for vibrating air. There are a few other “Types” of guitars that are specific to having this internal chamber, I will post a few things about those at a future date.

So, without the chamber for vibrating air, how does the guitar make it’s sound? This is why electric guitars have “Pickups” or microphones,so as to convert string vibrations or sound waves into electrical pulses which are then amplified and turned back into sound waves via a speaker.

I hope that helps clarify a little confusion about just what the term “Solid Bodied” guitar, means
